44\u00a0Now it was\u00a0about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.\u00a045\u00a0Then the sun was darkened,\u00a0and the veil of the temple was torn in two.\u00a046\u00a0And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said,\u00a0\u201cFather, \u2018into Your hands I commit My spirit.\u2019\u201d\u00a0Having said this, He breathed His last.<\/p>\n
47\u00a0So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, \u201cCertainly this was a righteous Man!\u201d<\/p>\n
48\u00a0And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.49\u00a0But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.<\/p>\n
50\u00a0Now behold,\u00a0there was<\/i>\u00a0a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.\u00a051\u00a0He had not consented to their decision and deed.\u00a0He was<\/i>\u00a0from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting\u00a0for the kingdom of God.\u00a052\u00a0This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.\u00a053\u00a0Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb\u00a0that was<\/i>\u00a0hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.\u00a054\u00a0That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.<\/p>\n
55\u00a0And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.\u00a056\u00a0Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils.
