Why Are We on Planet 🌏?

Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, NASA Johnson Space Center.

We humans are not left to mere speculation as to our origins, as our Creator has revealed Himself through two primary modes: His works and the book of His Word – there is the Divine Revelation, Redemption, and Sovereign Purpose.

General Revelation: The Testimony of Creation –

the cosmos itself stands as a perpetual and manifest declaration of the infinite power and divinity of the Creator.

“…for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;…” (Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ )

This natural revelation renders all humanity inexcusable before God, for the created order testifies to a transcendent Lawgiver, imposing a universal moral consciousness and pointing to the reality of His eternal power.

Special Revelation: The Authority of Holy Scripture – the Bible.

While creation proclaims God’s glory, it does not disclose the path of salvation. For this, God has granted His Special Revelation in the Holy Bible. The Bible’s ultimate reliability is not a mere human conclusion but is underwritten by its Divine origin. Its supernatural character is evidenced by its profound unity across diverse human authors and centuries, its transformative power, and the meticulous and exact fulfillment of its prophecies.

The precise realisation of prophetic utterances – concerning nations, kings, and, most significantly, the Messiah – serves as a powerful apologetic; authenticating the Bible as the very Word of God and not cunningly devised tales of men.

The Centerpiece: The Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The historical event of the Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. It is not a mythological symbol but a space-time event that validates Christ’s claim to Deity and confirms the efficacy of His atoning sacrifice on the cross. As God has revealed to humanity, “if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). The empty tomb, the post-resurrection appearances, the changed lives of believers and the birth of the Church provide compelling historical evidence. The Resurrection is God’s definitive “Amen” to the person and work of Christ, declaring Him to be the Son of God with power and assuring believers of their own future resurrection and victory over death.

Do consider the following:

1. The Creator God – the more prominent arguments for Divine existence. The Creator God: From Cosmology to Consciousness, From Reason to Science, … the Evidence for a Divine mind; a theological disquisition on the decree of creation.  https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/the-creator-god-from-cosmology-to-consciousness-from-reason-science-and-the-evidence-for-a-divine-mind/

The created order stands as a continuous and public demonstration of the vestigia Dei. The cosmos, in its immensity, intricacy, and teleological order, bears witness to the actus purus ( signifies that God is the unproduced cause and the ultimate source of all existence) of the Creator – His eternal power and Divine nature. This natural theology, as elucidated in the sensus divinitatis (natural capacity of human beings to perceive God) , innately imparts a knowledge of God sufficient to condemn, though insufficient to save. It is the foundational testimony that establishes humanity’s culpability before a holy God, for it reveals the Lawgiver to whom an account must be rendered.

2. Creation testifies to the infinite All-Powerful Creator and is most worthy of His Creation’s compelling reverence. https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/thoughts/voyager-1-humanitys-journey-beyond-the-solar-system

3. Recognising the eternal power of God is a profound realisation that should inspire awe, humility, and purposeful living. Here’s what God tell humans to do to receive salvation in response to this truth. https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/thoughts/fascinating-facts-about-human-dna-length/

4. Understanding the Bible’s Ultimate Reliability.https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/thoughts/understanding-the-bibles-ultimate-reliability/

5. The fulfillment of prophecies recorded in the Old Testament – there are over 300 specific prophecies about the Messiah in the OT that were fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. The Unmistakable Signature… https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/the-unmistakable-signature-why-jesus-of-nazareth-bears-the-feature-of-the-messiah One exceedingly, irrefutably and peerless aspect of Jesus of Nazareth’s life was that, literally hundreds of detailed foretelling and prophecies were made many centuries before He was born, such as the specific details regarding His birth, life, and death that no mere mortal could possibly have fulfilled. No imposter could have engineered such a fulfillment, for it required a sovereignty over circumstance that belongs to God.

Where general revelation declares God’s glory, Special Revelation, consummated in the Holy Scriptures, declares His salvific will. The Bible’s divine provenance and consequent inerrancy are not contingent upon human ratification but are self-authenticating through the internal witness of the Spirit (testimonium Spiritus Sancti internum). Its veracity is corroborated by the supernatural unity of its canonical books, its efficacious power to regenerate and sanctify, and the precise, historical fulfillment of its prophetic utterances. The prophecies concerning the Messiah, in particular, serve as a divine apologetic, confirming Scripture as the very Verbum Dei.

6. The Significance of and Case for the Resurrection – the impact echoes through time and eternity, securing our forgiveness, our present purpose and future glory eternally. (The human condition, post-lapsus, is confronted with the inescapable reality of the Divine through the dual modes of revelation, which together render humanity inexcusable and point toward the necessity of a Redeemer.) https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/thoughts/why-jesus-resurrection-matters-greatly-and-its-impact-is-for-eternity/

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is not merely a datum of history but the pivotal eschatological event that inaugurates the new creation. It is the divine vindication of Christ’s sinless life and the efficacy of His substitutionary atonement.

The Resurrection of Christ is the guarantee of the our resurrection and the defeat of the last enemy, which is death. This event validates His claims of deity, secures the promise of eternal life for the believers, and stands as the unassailable foundation upon which the entire edifice of Christian theology rests. Without it, faith is vain and preaching is futile.

The triune God, in His inscrutable wisdom, ordained a creation in which His mercy would be gloriously displayed in the redemption of sinners through the blood of Christ, and His justice would be revealed in the righteous judgment of those who refuse Him. The Cross becomes the supreme locus where both God’s love for sinners and His wrath against sin is simultaneously and definitively revealed. Thus, the existence of eternal loss, while a solemn and dreadful reality, serves, in the grand tapestry of God’s eternal counsel, to magnify the glory of His grace toward those who are in Christ Jesus.

7. Why did God create men knowing that not all of humanity will go to heaven? https://rainbowwonderchoices.com/why-did-god-create-men-knowing-that-not-all-of-humanity-will-go-to-heaven/

God created humanity not as automatons, but as moral agents endowed with imago Dei (the image of God), including a will – Human Agency and Responsibility:  The entrance of sin into the world through Adam was permitted within the scope of God’s sovereign plan, yet man remains fully responsible for his rebellion. The condemnation of the unrighteous is not a result of divine caprice, but a just judgment upon those who willingly suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18) and reject the overtures of God’s grace in the Gospel.

The Mystery of Divine Sovereignty and Human Responsibility: God, in His infinite wisdom, ordains both the ends and the means. He sovereignly elects whom He foreknew will respond, while holding moral agents fully responsible for their rejection of the truth. This apparent antinomy, while beyond full human comprehension, is resolved in the mind of God and finds its ultimate expression at the Cross. There, the justice of God was satisfied in the condemnation of sin in the flesh of Christ, and the love of God was demonstrated in the redemption of sinners.

The question of why God would create humans, ex nihilo with the foreknowledge of eternal perdition for some touches upon the deepest mysteries of the Divine decree. The resolution lies in understanding the ultimate telos of creation: the manifestation of the fullness of God’s glory for the enjoyment of His people. In Him, the wrath of God is revealed against sin, and the grace of God is magnified toward sinners.
