Man is made in the image of God; what does this mean in practical terms? God is a Spirit and man is made from dust so it cannot be in reference to man’s biological body.
In the image of God means, man is endues with some of the Godlike attributes; intelligence, creativity, love, sense of justice, immortality (man’s soul is eternal) and freedom, among others – thereby separating and making man different from the beasts.
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7
